The Golden Grain: Wheat

Everywhere in the world, wheat is grown as an annual grass. Having been grown for thousands of years, it is the most significant staple crop and the main source of food for people all over the world. Raw or cooked seeds are edible portions. As a staple grain used for making flour for bread (roti, paratha, and bread loaf), pasta, noodles, and broken wheat (bulgur wheat), like daliya or lapsi, wheat is an excellent multipurpose crop.

In Indian cooking, broken wheat is often used to make dishes like vegetable-salted daliya khichdi, milk-and-jaggery daliya kheer, and broken wheat lapsi, which is cooked with clarified butter and jaggery syrup.

Ingredients:

Broken wheat(daliya): 1 cup

Milk: 1.5 liters

Jaggery powder: 1/2 cup

Cardamom powder: 1 tsp

Dry fruits: As per your choice.

Method:

Step 1: Give the daliya a few minutes to soak.

Step 2: Boil the milk in step two.

Step 3: Stir thoroughly after adding the soaked daliya to the milk.

Step 4: Cook it for ten minutes.

Step 5: Stop the flames and allow it to cool. Once it has cooled, thoroughly stir in the cardamom and jaggery powders.

Step 6: Simply add extra milk and adjust the consistency to your liking if the daliya seems thick or dry.

Step 7: A smooth and creamy sweet daliya is ready with a good stir.

Top your favorite dry fruits over broken wheat daliya kheer to get a nutritious and delicious meal.
